Weight loss and exercise go hand in hand
Regular activity is an essential part of any successful weight-loss program. But don’t
feel that you need to work out like a world-class athlete. Moderate exercise, which
is really nothing more than an active lifestyle that is appropriate for your age and
condition, is generally sufficient. Just remember that exercise is what enables you
to get the greatest results from the "sacrifices" you might make in your eating. In
short, it really makes those little moments of deprivation deliver results. Moreover,
there is no better way to make up for those moments of weakness when you might
have given into a craving than engaging in some physical activity. In short, activity
breathes life into you, as well as your weight-loss efforts.
Cardiovascular Aerobic Exercise
Try walking outside or on a treadmill, or riding a stationary bike four to five days
per week. Gradually increase to at least 30-45 minutes per day at a brisk pace. If
you’re breathing heavily (huffing and puffing), then you are going too fast, but if you
can sing a song, you’re probably going too slow. Just strive for a pace that would still
allow you to carry on a conversation while walking or pedaling. Try to get in at least
some sort of cardiovascular exercise like walking or bicycling on a stationary bike.
Do not feel that you must run, jog or attend high impact aerobic classes. The key
is moderation, so that you stay comfortable enough to stick with the program. Exercise
and physical activity help stimulate and preserve your body’s lean body mass,
which is the metabolic key to the ability to burn the fat that you have. It is an almost
impossible goal to try and lose weight by merely focusing on one’s diet or activity
alone. Over and over the research shows that losing weight requires modification of
your food intake and activity level. They are both perfect partners in losing weight,
and best of all, when you combine the Wellnetix® Program’s Nutritional Plan with
moderate physical activity, you not only improve the results you achieve, but you
also accelerate the rate at which you achieve them. Truly, a winning combination!
Weight Training
You do not have to include weight training to succeed on the Wellnetix® Program,
although it certainly helps. Studies indicate that weight training or resistance training
is at least as beneficial as aerobic exercise for losing fat. If you have access to a
gym, I recommend a full body weight routine at least two to three days per week.
There are also numerous books that instruct you on how to initiate a simple resistance-
training program in the comfort of your home.
